Mercedes E450 Shock Replacement
Mercedes E450 Shock Replacement
Question
I want to upgrade my standard shocks for a 2008 E450 Class C
What would you recommend? Monroe?, Bilstein?
Can I get away with just the rear or should I replace all 4??
My goal is to decrease any sway or rock and roll from wind and passing
trucks
Answer
The Bilsteins are the way to go.
They are a high pressure gas monotube, and best suited for handling and
performance, especially at high way speeds.
Replacing them 2 at a time is ok. Though the handling aspect of a vehicle,
steering, braking, wandering, handling,
those issues are primarily felt through the front of a vehicle. The rear of
a car just follws the front.
The biggest improvement you will feel by the seat of your pants will be when
you change the front units.
